And I thought that I had too many cameras! I am not in the same league as you, Craig. But, whatever makes you happy.
Buy a couple more at that price, and throw them in your camera. At least one will be close to hand. I thought I had too many. So long as you are happy with your collection, or is it a work in progress and it kind of grows from time to time? Gary
I am in the same boat but can not afford to buy the lens that suit the camera but find using old film lenses and a adapter a way around the problem
My latest purchase was 5 Practica cameras from Vinnies, 4 Nova1s, 2 working and 2 needing to refurbished and the 5th is a later model that needs a clip on the battery cover. This later modes is a different mount than the earlier models and I have to research the lenses that fit it or if there is a adapter available. These German cameras are built like a brick dunny and take M42 mount lenses. One of my photography student is trying one out at the moment.
Gary, on my 60D there is a 2 second delay in the Drive Mode settings, I am finding I am using this more on the 60D for slow shutter use than the remote recently, I don't have to search for the remote in my bag but I still use in on my other cameras. I also use Yongnuo wireless Flash transmitters and receivers, they can be used as a remote control. These little transmitters, made in China, are cheap but work quite well in both roles.
A lot of the cameras I get are in need of maintenance and repair, I was a Mechanical Fitter by trade and do not have a lady of the house to curtail my interest and spending.
i guess my can put my whole kit in as 'my latest purchase' I turned 50 last (2019) december, so i was treated to a camera of my choice for around £500 from my girlfriend. so this jan i choose the M50 with the two kit lenses sd card and extra battery, came to somewhere around £650. not having alot of knowledge into interchangeable lenses i did do plenty of research into what was best for me, one of the deciding factors was the smaller size and lighter weight. Mostly i'll be using it on the move for wildlife and macro, out in fields or the zoo, i'm not into lugging great big rucksacks of stuff around, rucksacks and heels never looked good. a few weeks after my initial tests of the kit stuff which i a'm really happy with (my first photo sess over my local cemetry i intended on getting some song birds and got alot of fox pics, including courtship dances and mating, i'll have to workout how to post the pics they are great), my next lens was the 28mm macro m mount lens with the built in light after that and came the sigma 100-400mm, this leads into my very latest purchases of an X2 canon mk III converter just arriving a few days ago, still on the way in are a set of extension tubes and a black rapid sport slim, had to get that from Germany as they dont make the slims any more. i have also got a grippa bean bag as i'm yet to see which way i want to go with tripods, initially i made a set of close fitting leather pouches for the kit lenses so i could have them in a shoulder bag and stay clean. i still use those for dressy days out that arent especially a photo event, oh which reminds me i got a very good second hand m mount 22mm pancake lens to use instead of the body blank, that way its much quicker to whip out and shoot...........(leave it!!). currently my delema is figuring out how to 'wear' my little monster (siggy 100-400) without being a nuisance, i have 5 duo lens cases which i keep most of my lenses and camera in, the theory at the moment is to have the duo case on my large leather waist belt so i can use that in conjunction with the rapid strap as a lens holster when i'm not shooting just walking around looking for subjects. my last actual purchase was a few hours ago where i had to get a couple of larger feminine shoulder bags for carrying monster to locations then i can switch to the strap and belt method. i will eventuly get a proper camera bag with the dividers etc for longer/further trips away but while my basic kit is still developing and still learning what i need for what situation that will have to wait, as will a larger heavier astro tripod with tracking motor, a portable light weight tripod could well be one of my next purchases. writing this my cat was being oh so cute, getting the 22mm as a body cap was quite a slick move if i do say so myself.
Sounds like you have a lot of angles covered with your gear. But once you start buying stuff, it can be hard to stop. That can be a fun road to go down. I hope you enjoy your gear, and I am looking forward to seeing some of your images. Gary
Latest purchase for camera things is two identical ladies shoulder bags................... i had bought a lovely shoulder bag with enough room to hold my m50 and two kit lenses so i have something to shoot with when i out and about. A few days later i tried my Siggy telephoto in it and it fit, with not a lot of room for anything else, then my brain did what it does best, 'why not get another identical bag and sew them together to create a three compartment bag'. So i just finished sewing the two together and i now can take my siggy to the zoo and still have a normal size bag when its in use as the section of the bag the siggy was in flops flat against the other one. on my last cemetery test i was finding wearing a big bag while using the siggy on the rapid strap quite cumbersome, so i ended up carrying the bag in hand and putting it down to shoot stuff, which is fine in a very low traffic place but in a zoo or such its probably not a great idea to have a bag with expensive stuff on the floor while you shooting stuff. Yes the ideal solution would be a back mounted rucksack but i thinking ahead to the summer when that might not be so practical on a hot day in a thin dress. This does leave me with a future vision of when i get a much bigger and heavier telephoto lens, will i have to get a baby buggy...................
I think that a rucksack is the way forward. Slinging a bag over a shoulder, and then lugging that around is not so good for your back. Especially once the weight starts to go up. Gary
yeah, still learning, once i was at the zoo and the camera and lens was in action the weight of the bag was minimal
since i last posted i have added a : Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 and the sigma dock as i now have two sigmas A second canon ef-m mount so i can leave that on the 18-35 and the other stays on the 100-400, i find i easier that way. also got a couple more think tank duo pouches I have ordered up a couple of yongnuo speed lights and a trigger
had 30 a4 size generic gel sheets arrive today, and a yongnuo 560 iii flash, i was hoping to have had the trigger and flash by now but i goofed up and they are coming from china so they will be a while, the one i got was another one from uk £30 ebay win, works great on the camera so it should be ok for macro stuff, my main attention for the speed lights is for off camera but i can wait. the generic gel sheets i have quite a few ideas for including using them with my led worklights, oh and i wanted a couple of sheets to put in my front door for that stained glass look.
Yes, that is super-wide. I have a Tamron 10-24 for my crop sensor Pentax cameras and that is plenty wide. But an extra 2.5mm would be a walk on the wild side. I'm waiting to see what you can do with it.
yeah i'll have to get out and about with it or see if i can use it on this months photo challenge ( pokes stick) its the first lens i can actully get my whole shoe rack in
Hmm - just bought a Sound Devices Mix Pre 6 II Audio recorder, as beginning to do some more video work with my R. . .
