Using my 'Gift' 1990's EOS 1000FN in 'Sports Mode' at the Brentwood Half Marathon on Sunday March 15th with the Canon EF Zoom 75=300mm f4-5.6 Mk III all the shots of runners approaching me were OUT OF FOCUS ! 'Sports Mode' is supposed to set a fast shutter speed ( which it DID) and 'Al-Servo Follow-Focus' -- which FAILED ! I used outdated Kodak 400 C41 film home-processed and scanned with Canon 9000F Mk II
I also have some 'Gift' Minolta Dynax cameras and they are supposed to do 'Follow-Focus' and I think the Minolta lenses are sharper especially the 'Beercan' 70-210mm f4 -- I tested it on a moving car coming towards me and it was sharp .
It is good to see people still have a active interest in film, there is that tactile feel to the whole process that does not exist with digital.
YEs -- and I have loads of 'Outdated Film ' to use up -- It WAS 'FRESH' once but when all the Newspapers went 'Digital' they gave me lots of film.
It must be interesting trying out all of your gift cameras. Do you have any that you like more than others? Gary
Gary -- I try to give them all a 'Workout' in turn -- I fire off shutters while having my afternoon Tea Break indoors and keep shutters moving. I like my OLYMPUS OM series and the Minolta ones equally PLUS of course my Medium Format ROLLEIFLEXES !
