Camera focus problem

    Equipment:
    Canon 700d, Canon zoom EF S 18-200 Lens
    Hi I have a Canon 700d with a Canon zoom EF-S 18-200 lens and all my images are not sharp. I have set the camera to AV. ISO 200 and I try to shoot about f18 but adjust when nessersary. I did a factory reset in case I set it up wrong. Can you help me please James

    Just curious what sort of shutter speeds are you getting if you are shooting everything stopped down to small apertures. I am hoping you have motion blur, not a bad lens.

    Hi today was 125 @f14. Even if I use a tripod it is the same . The lens and camera I have had for 2 years. Not heavily used. Both were new

    While the 125 is a bit slow for a 200mm lens in my opinion, the tripod rules out the obvious hand shake issue.

    Is the issue new i take it? Can I assume the auto-focus is locking in on something to focus on?
    My guess is something came out of alignment in the lens if it started happening recently.

    So just a couple of questions. As johnsey has asked already, is this a new or an on going problem? Are you able to post some images so we can help work out the problem?

    Are you able to manually focus with live view to rule out the camera miss focusing?

    When I first read you post, the first thing that sprang to mind is diffraction. Shooting at f18 is well and truly in the diffraction zone. What do the images look like if you shoot at f8?

    Lastly, if you are using a tripod, have you turned off IS?

    Hi Gary I feel a fool I went through the manual and camera settings and found I had not enabled lens correction and adjusted picture correction. Sharpness, contrast and colour. All fine now thank you for your help. James

    James, no need to feel like a fool.

    Good to know that all is fine now.

    With focusing when in live view. I don't know with first hand knowledge with your model of camera, but by having a quick look around on the net, it seems as if you can.
