Hi, my name is John and I live in the outer SE suburbs of Melbourne. Australia. I have been a keen photographer since the mid '70's and purchased my first DSLR in 2010 when the minister of finance okayed the purchase of a 7D. My main interests lie in landscape and nature photography, but I have recently started down the slippery slope of macro photography. I look forward to joining in here sharing information and images . Cheers John
Hello and welcome to the forum from the other side of the ditch. I'm looking forward to seeing your work. Gary
Thanks for the welcoming words fellas. Just a quick question before I post any images, what are, if any, the size limits for uploaded images? The other forums I'm on set 1024 pixels on the longest side and no larger than 250Kb as the biggest file size.
Actually i believe it was set larger, something like 3k or 4k pixels. But yes I would go under half that, something around 1000 or 1200 pixels should display well in a post.
Thanks for the quick reply @johnsey. What about file size, is there a limit there, I don't want to try to post a 3Meg image and use up all the storage capacity.
File size is somewhere around 8-10mb from what I remembered, we have a few threads from back in 2017 where few users uploaded very large files and we discussed the cap.
Thanks for the info johnsey, that is a very generous allowance, my images won't be anywhere near that size.
For uploading to the web I resize my images to 2048 pixels on the long edge and they are usually between 500KB - 800KB. As most monitors are 1920 X 1080 that is all you need.
