We now have four cygnets on our lake. Mum and Dad are being very protective. Canon 20D, Canon EF 75-300mm f4-5.6.
Thanks, John. That is what we are looking forward to as well. Our main worry is about the eels that are in the lake. Last night the male swan was fighting off one of them. We are hoping for the best.
All is well so far. Four cygnets are still there today June 17. Canon 20D, Canon EF 75-300mm f4-5.6, Manfrotto 681B Monopod.
You're a lucky man to get those photos, not everyone gets to see the new family. I can't believe how blue that water is! I'm lucky enough to have a small lake 1 block away and I walk the dog there every day (with camera - just in case). I was shocked when our swans had their cygnets and brought them over for me to check them out when I was just sitting on the grass at water's edge. I was thankful that I got some great photos. TFS.
Thanks, Isac. We were lucky to have a good vantage point to view the nest and then it was just a point of waiting until the eggs hatched. They are much more mobile now and don't come back to the nest often. The water is just reflecting the colour of the sky. It doesn't look as good on an overcast day. The latest news is that there are now only three cygnets and we assume that is because of the eels in the lake.
