Nature Bottlebrush (Callistemon)

Nice bright subject and a challenge to get the reds exposed well. Callistemons are endemic to Australia and in the south-west of Western Australia (where I live) we only have 2 varieties.

 

Not an uncommon sight in gardens in this part of the world.

You probably have those common old eastern states varieties but not the exotic Western Australian species HaHa

 

I was thinking that we had one in our front garden where I grew up as a kid. We were poor, so yeah, it would have been the poor persons common one

I was thinking that I am not sure if I have seen any in the South Island.

They aren't known to be in your part of the woods Gary, but if the wind blows strong enough, miracles can happen.

 

Well, we get the smoke from the bush fires.
