Nice bright subject and a challenge to get the reds exposed well. Callistemons are endemic to Australia and in the south-west of Western Australia (where I live) we only have 2 varieties.
You probably have those common old eastern states varieties but not the exotic Western Australian species HaHa
I was thinking that we had one in our front garden where I grew up as a kid. We were poor, so yeah, it would have been the poor persons common one I was thinking that I am not sure if I have seen any in the South Island. Gary
