i've been trying to remember mine, but it's like a blur. and after writing the list below, i can see why - i sure go through 'em :-/ first was the canon a620 - i researched like made, then my family got it as a present for me. then was some unassuming kodak with 10x zoom - the a620 zoom wasn't doing it for me the fuji S9100 - loved the manual zoom, but i was trying to learn and the menus drove me nuts. also low light pics left a lot to be desired. canon 30D. my first DSLR - it really got me started. my first lens was a low end sigma 55-200, next was the 50 1.8 and my husband gave me a kit lens. i fell in love with the panasonic GF1. this was the original sharper kit lens and i got a couple zooms and started using my husband's FD lenses and some CCTV lenses adapted. lots of fun, nice pics, but i didn't care for the optional EVF. panasonic FZ150. i really liked it, but the EVF refresh was slow - if i was shooting birds on the move, they were still showing on the EVF after they were actually out of the shot. sold it. possibly the panasonic G3. clunkier look but light with a built in EVF. i took a lot of pics with that one. canon SX230 - i wanted a carry around camera, and for a while this was it. for my birthday one year i got an oly E-PM2 plus lens, optional EVF and some other stuff. sharp pics but the EVF wasn't accurate and it drove me crazy. canon SX260 - i can no longer remember why i switched from the SX230 to the SX260. i'm sure there seemed to be a reason. sony nex5 r. nice camera, but inaccurate EVF. used G3 - somewhere along the line i sold my G3 and missed it so much that when a used in great shape one came up at B&H, i jumped on it. a6000 plus kit lens, the wonderfull 50mm f/1.8 OS and 55-210 zoom. for my needs, the best and most satisfying camera to use i've owned. canon SX50. long zoom but the EVF isn't very good for those of us who wear glasses. nikon P610. a little more zoom than the canon, and a much more successful EVF for me. still have this one. panasonic ZS50 - my husband asked me what i wanted for christmas last year. that was it. a very nice carry around camera except in low light and it does nice macros. i like it. SL1 - that's where i am now. i have the kit lens, 55-250 STM and a yongnuo 50 1.8. that's not counting cameras i returned or exchanged includingr an E-PL1, an earlier SL1 that i returned, an nex5n and a ZS20.
The first new camera I bought was a Fujica ST901. It was the first time I ever had a loan from the Bank. It cost me around £200 in 1975! I followed it up with a 200mm lens, a 2x teleconverter, a small Nissen flash and a tripod shortly after. A year or two afterwards a 2nd hand enlarger paper, chemicals and a "darkroom" built from a converted large wardrobe. In 1993 we moved to another house. The wardrobe was junked and all the other equipment including negatives and most of my prints, bar the tripod was "lost". Luckily I had already bought a T90 bundle (the Auto exposure on the Fujica had broke though the camera was still usable in manual mode) so I was not too bothered. The stress of moving, carrying out repairs and other things kept my mind off the loss. Here is one of the few prints I have left.
I don't know if I can remember all cameras that I had over the last 12 years. But I can give a try. n+1.Canon EOS 300s. I bought it new, with a kit lens, and remember that day. I was very happy that I will be able to make good shots of the portraits I was drawing in a summer resorts. This replaced an old Praktica. But If I think well, was more than 12 years before. n+2.Fujifilm FD 6500, Was the first digital. Bought in 2005, so this is in the period of the last 12 years. n+3.Canon 60D. My old and trustfull and present camera. n+4.Pentax K-x. n+5.Pentax K-r. n+6.Pentax K-5, n+7.Pentax K-5 IIs There was other film cameras before, I don't remember all. But I remember my first camera. Was a gift from my grandfather for my 18 aniversary - a long time ago. This camera was older than me. My grandfather made photos with it in the time of the WW2. It was for large format film. Was like a box, with some small windows. I have tried to find it recently, but can't. I never liked that camera, but it was my first, and was a gift from my grandfather. Ahh.
12 years hmm, I'm more calculated with my purchases so lets see.. 2004 i got my 20D and a A40 powershot. 2005 was a backup k1000 body 2006 was Pentax 67II and a Nikon coolpix L3 2010: 5Dmk2 and a Canon coolpix SD1200 IS 2012 Shen-Hao HZX4x5-II field camera 2015 Pentax 645n Also picked up a SX70, Polaroid 95A, Polaroid Pro Pack, a brownie and ansco box cameras a Voigtländer Bessa all in mid 2000's while in college. In the 90's i had a Kodak 110 (first camera) then a k1000 SE, a T50 and then saved up and bought a Pentax LX in SR High.
thanks for sharing the print when i met my husband, he had a darkroom he made in his livingroom closet. wow, great list and some cool gear! i can't remember my film cameras - it wasn't till digital that the photography bug bit me. before that, i had a 35mm and a couple compact film cameras, but just used them for snapshots. one might have been a kodak 110. do you have any pics of that first camera, by any chance/ you know the years - and you have a 645n! cool!
I fond a picture of something which looks like my first camera. As far as I can remember. But is on a stock photo site, so I will post the address. https://thumbs.dreamstime.com/z/ver...ground-isolated-transporting-box-31117199.jpg
Not a hope - must be 20+ if I count all the things I tried for a few days or weeks (several digital compacts, a couple of 3D cameras, etc.) then sold on. But the ones I kept for a while: Canon AE-1 - used for 12 years or so, sold about 11 years ago Canon F1 - ditto Nikon D50 - bought about 10 years ago, still in use Fujitusu Finepix 2500?? - not sure of the number - used until about 7 years ago Finepix S5700 - bought when the Finepix died - replaced with another S5700 two years ago after I smashed the first. Canon Eos 300D - earlier this year
Our cameras in order. Film cameras: 1. Smena 8M (don't have it anymore) https://microsites.lomography.com/smena/smena8m/ ; 2. Fed (the first model) (someday I will get this back as is the most important camera from my childhood); 3. Minolta SRT 101; 4. Canon Prima AF-8 (sharp images from its coke triplet lens, still working but the battery door needs to be taped) https://c1.staticflickr.com/7/6156/6179164674_3f547ae0ba_b.jpg Digital cameras: 1. HP PhotoSmart 620, 2Mp - (don't have it anymore) (broke twice, auto focus problems, replaced once); 2. Canon PowerShot A430, 4Mp (excellent image quality and close-ups - now it overexposes no matter what, but movies are still ok ) http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/A430/A430A.HTM ; 3. Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS42, 10Mp (great IQ, although lens is a little soft on a side) here are some shots; 4. Nikon Coolpix L340, 20Mp (I started macro photography with this one, excellent results, but wasn't good enough for other types) here are some shots; 5. Canon EOS 100D, 18Mp (our first DSLR, man, this is worlds apart from anything else we had. Can't do yet proper close-up shots, need a better lens) here are the best close-ups I could do with the kit lens.
If you're trying to replace the Smena I'm pretty sure they were sold in the UK as the Cosmic Symbol camera - they turn up on eBay UK occasionally, not incredibly expensive. And there's a Fed 1 there now at £59.99 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FED-1-Typ...285925?hash=item489bb9bb65:g:lyQAAOSw7U5Y9jgh
See thread - https://www.canonforums.com/threads/older-canons-10d-20d-30d.215/ My post #16. Not in order, but with this much stuff, does it really need to be ? Maybe one day I'll get'em all out and take a picture. I have an old Olympus that still works well enough to do the job..! Mike
