November Monthly Challenge - Bokeh

This is what bokeh really is Caladina! Some may be thinking Bokeh is background blur or Depth-of-Field blur effect but you've nailed what bokeh actually is. Nice work.

Last November 9th, I received the ring from Amazon, to be able to use my old Pentax 42 thread lens in my Canon EOS 350D camera.

This photography is the result with my old ASAHI PENTAX - Super Takumar 1: 3.5 / 135 lens, in the end the best obtained. The greatest difficulty I had was focusing, since with the multiplier effect, it became a lens of more than 200 mm.

The photographed object is an ewer, which I bought in Coimbra (Portugal) years ago.

In the exif data, the Asahi Pentax lens does not appear, because it was a lens from the analog era.

Thanks to Caladina, it occurred to me to try to use them again. But I see it laborious to do it outside the home

 

yeah, i miss the af from modern lenses when i see birds etc but i like them for more relaxed style of photography, of course that goes out the window when something a bird comes into frame

 

It's a beautiful ewer with exquisite detail and colours. I'm not quite getting the bokeh effect in this one though.

 

Jose', I use M42 mount lenses a lot on my 60D and my 360D. My I suggest you try zone focusing, If you are not familiar with this. pre-focus at a set distance set aperture to F16 or smaller, take a shot and see if it is in focus , adjust where necessary, now every thing at this distance to infinity will be in focus. More info in Zone focusing can be found on YouTube. all the best with it.

 

i do have the 135 and 200 takumars, those long focal lengths can be a sod to hand hold and manual focus, i use the magnify option in the evf, still pretty shake though.
the sub 85mm ones are best for vintage for me with hand hold.
i discovered another interesting use for the manual aperture lenses, use them as a spot light by shining a light through them

 

Caladina, I have a preference for the 135mm focal length too, I prefer this length when I am shooting around streets as I, do not have to get close to my subjects and interact with what is going on in the shot. I have a M42 3 x extender for use with my 200 making it a 600mm but I loose three stops of light so I have to use a higher ISO. I use this pairing for wildlife shots as its not as heavy as my Vivitar 600mm lens. as for stability when taking my images I use a Higher ISO and a faster shutter speed.
