Clouds and river

Very beautiful shot, clouds and skies are one my faves to shoot too.

From a composition perspective, would you prefer the original looking like this (without cropping)?

 

Brilliant capture Sundar - proud of you mate! Fabulous interest right through the landscape to that magical sky. The great thing is, you will never see that again - but you've captured it forever
I'm usually not a fan of square crops on landscapes, it always seems to have me wanting to see more.
Whenever I see a sky like that I like to do a 3 to 6 shot vertical panorama - maybe something to try. I stitch it all together with Image Composite Editor (I.C.E. - free from Microsoft).

 

You are right Sundar, theyt are called "CLOUDS" HaHa
The low ones are a combo of Statocumulus and Stratus and the high ones are Cirrus with some Cirrostratus.

 

Thanks Isac. This happens to be a composite of three images. Didn't go higher in cloud space. There was too much of it.

 

Thats great Sundar. What do you use to stitch the shots? What made you decide to do a square crop?

 

i've just recently been using some square crops (selecting 1:1 in camera ratio rather than actual cropping).
Love the image sundar, i like the way the cloud streaks act as a vanishing point pulling you out the frame n the right, becoming you to see more. the full image works for me

 

I use photoshop. I also have Helicon focus with me but don't use that much though. The pano ended up being square. Could have changed to a wide angle lens but didn't.

yeah i got a few i should have posted, been playing with some new toys, Jupiter ƒ4 135mm and a Takumar ƒ3.5 135mm, very nice vintage lenses.

 

I sometimes revisit the archive to see if I have missed out a few.

 

That is what I mean. I was sure someone in the know would classify the clouds in the image correctly.

 

I was thinking of what you said and thought it was profound. This is one point or instance of space-time fabric never ever to repeat again. This is true of every image ever captured.

Not sure what made you say this. I wasn't really gloating that this is the greatest cloud pic ever made. Reality is what he said and I agree with it 100%. Maybe he was humoring me but that is besides the point. In a sense what he said was past is past. Don't need google to see this. By the way, that exchange was strictly between Isac and me.
