picked up a second hand eos M 18-150mm 3.5-6.3 kit for my M50, nice range that i don't have in a single walk around lens, normally i would use my 55-200 but i was finding the 55 on crop a bit too tight and have to switch out for a wider.

Waiting for a reply from canon regarding the af, lens is good, the optics in modern 'kit' lenses from the big brands are good quality these days ( i wasn't in to photography earlier on). even though its not a fast lens by any means the stabilization makes up for that a fair bit indoors in well lit areas. makes a great scouting out lens, great for close up and medium long shots
Not really a Canon product. But I have ordered a ZWO ASI 120MM mini guider and a ZWO 30F4 guide scope to try and make some forward progress with my astrophotography. But there is a small problem. I have ordered this stuff from the West Island of NZ (aka Australia, or Stralia as it is also know as). To make matters worse, there is a thing called Australian post. Even over here they don't have a speedy reputation. And to add insult to injury, I ordered these items from Sydney where there is has been another Covid-19 outbreak in the community. I am not holding my breath on this one arriving anytime soon. Gary
welcome to the club, their delivery time is foo foo. The Australian Government now also charge a ridiculous 300 dollars to import a item over 2000 dollar , these pack of no-hopers brought this heap of garbage in just after covid 19, or more commonly known as the beer virus. My new bit of kit was not a canon but a Calimat C1, 8inch * 10inch view camera with a 360m lens. not exactly pocket size coming in at 8 KG but really cool to use. As long as I can drive to where I am shooting. For those not familiar with sort of camera, it is a very old design where you use a 8inch by 10 inch negative the record the image which is view upside down and under a dark cloth to focus.
speaking of astrophotography we had pretty much cloudy to rainy skies for the saturn jupiter event but i did get one shot between clouds, defiantly not a great image, also where we are saturn is fairly low so there is alot of atmospheric crap the shoot through and all the city pollution. i attempted to expose for saturn rather than jupiter and its moons but i only had the one shot so didn't get a chance to hone in, think the lens may have had some condensation. M50 sigma 100-400 c at 400 + x2, ƒ13 (lowest with the x2), iso 125, ss 0.4 looking at the exit info i still had the colour temp on 33k from another shoot. i was supprised it had enough oomf to give as bigger image of saturn as it did, refinement will come maybe next summer when she is higher as its too cold to be arsed to go out atm.
you'll like this Gary, i got a lens ball for xmas, if i'm remembering correctly i think you have one. looks like there are a lot of cool ways to shoot with them.

That is getting a bit personal, Gary! But I'll answer it anyway. It was advertised and purchased as 80mm but it is actually 75mm.

Both you gentlemen are lucky, just before my wife number 2 decided it was time to move on, if I had such a little internet occurrence , she would have shown a somewhat disturbed attitude to the incident. She tended to yell a lot when she was not on her happy pills.
be careful how you propose that one, people gotten into trouble showing their ball in class.................. oh and if its not already obvious when you teach people about lens balls, remember to tell them about the fire hazards they can be!
My class's ages range from 68 to 93 so they will take it as a bit of photography kit with out other thoughts, the only one which was a bit of a ratbag, she does other activities now.
