While we are on the subject of black and white images, this was taken today when I took my photo class to Cornealian Bay on the Derwent River, about 7 minutes away from where I hold my classes, camera was 1D Mark 3 and 50mm F1.8 lens
B&W version appears lot more pleasing than the color version, especially the shadows. Boat got close to the shore opening a portal under the forest canopy..
Looks a beautiful spot Craig. I hope some CC is OK with you - IMHO I think the image has too much mid-tone throughout the image which makes it look a little dull and lacking contrast. To me it needs some PP to lift the whites and blacks. Others may see it differently though, just my own thoughts. Sorry if I sound harsh but I call it as I see it. P.S. - a tweak of the horizon may be in order as well. Cheers.
Isac, I tend to disagree, I like the way Sundar has presented the image, as I like the dark moody look to it. It reminds me of some of the spots I used to fish on the upper reaches of the Derwent River around the Plenty area, as the fish come on the bite about evening or early morning
Sorry if I have answered the wrong post, but I was replying to your image of Cornealian Bay on the Derwent River.
You are correct, I don't have a computer screen, the last one died and I now use a Tv for a screen and it is showing its age, maybe next year will see a nice screen but till then I make do with what I have, please feel free to have a go at editing it if you want to.
This is my interpretation, although it's only on a low res image. If you want the PSD I can send it via WeTransfer, but I'll need your email address.
Sorry about the res but I have issues with higher res when I try to post so I put images up on the low side. You have done well with my image Isac, good one.
