Hi, I have a CZ Flektogon lens which I would like to attach to my Canon 70D - via an adapter, of course. How could I do it - or is it a waste of time? Thanks Clive
We Welcome to the forum, Clive. I have a 60D and fit FD, FL, M42 ad a variety of others. I am unfamiliar with CZ Flektogon lens but if it is a manual focus lens and has a aperture ring it should be possible to mount the lens on with a Flektogon to EOS mount. Run the camera in manual mode or aperture priority. Very fine focus can be an issue but use your live view and hit your + button a couple of time to view the magnified image. This will help with the focus. When you have the image if focus, hit the + button again so you can compose your image. All the best with it.
when getting an adapter for M42 mount lenses there are two ef types flanged and non flanged, this refers to the pin in the back of alot of M42 screw mount lenses, the flange on the adapter lets the pin be depressed by it so the aperture blade mech works i got the flanged type for my canon camera but its an efm mount rather than the ef, so something to keep an eye out for when looking at adapters. i have a czj 35mm flectogon and that has the pin, all my other M42 mount lenses make use of the pin or they have an auto//manual switch on them which i think by passes the need for the switch? not sure but they all work with the flanged one i have
Thanks, both for the very helpful, and informative replies. As I use adapters with a couple of other "foreign" lenses, I understand your advice. Again, many thanks. Clive
Hi, I've had another look at the lens I hope to get, and I see that the fitting is not M42. I would therefore need an adapter from the Flektogon to M42 - as I already have one from M42 to EOS, assuming there isn't a direct adapter from the lens to the camera. To repeat - am I wasting my time?
Clive, I have not used or seen this lens but I had a look on You Tube and it does show some very good results. Ultimately it comes down to your needs and what you want in the way of results. you can get advice on this lens from others but it would be based on their needs and use of the lens, what you want or need may be different. You now have two choices to make, one do you want to spend a bit more money or two do you want to keep your lens. So spend a bit of money and use the lens and find out and learn what results you can achieve from it. Think of it this way, Photography is an adventure filled journey, you will never get to the end of this journey unless you start taking the first steps and listening to someone else tell you about the end of the journey will never get you there so start taking those steps. All the best with the lens and its picture taking.
Thanks Craig, I appreciate your advice - and the philosophy of photography! You are so right. Thanks again, Clive
