i bought a cheap M50 for a spares body for my main ones with a power board failure, they are around £100+ from aliexpress

stripping the M50 to get the pcb out is relatively easy
you can get a good second hand body for £300, so that might be the better option? check out mpb.com, they are an excellent company, used them loads

    Yes it can be but...
Well you can spend to send in for repair, probably not cost effective considering the cost to just replace.
Or, you can get a parts camera with a working mother board and try to repair yourself if you know about electronics.... a very risky experiment otherwise.

I think Caladina was pretty spot on with her suggestion, keep it for parts get a replacement. Otherwise, you could sell it for the going parts rate for its condition and buy a different camera if that suits you as well.

i been waiting for one of those to turn up too, i could get one from aliexpress but its not a desperate need.

well you could take it to an electronics repair place / person, they will be able to check the motherboard for any defects fails etc but i'm not knowledgable myself in that aspect hence why i'll probably get one from aliexpress etc myself.
then there is the fact it might not just be the motherboard, other electrical components may have started to corrode and short out or may have done that already

Do you have accidental contents damage on your home insurance policy? often you are covered away from home too.
