love that you have been branching out into wildlife...........realized that was a bun as i typed it, i have a question for you, what white balance setting are you using when you do your wild life images? in addition, does the editing software you use, if any, allow you to adjust colour levels by grey point?
Hello Caladina. I used Auto White Balance for this capture because even though it was slightly overcast, there was a bit of atmospheric haze visible even through the viewfinder. With that in mind, I still needed to add a bit of contrast to correct that issue. As far as color accuracy I try to do my best through the camera's presets and yes, there are times when it is necessary to make adjustments in photo editing, but fortunately, not very much. The color of this beautiful creature is pretty much straight out of camera, however keep in mind that adjusting for Contrast will enhance the color value. Hope this helps and many thanks for your questions and kind words. Tony.
i made a levels adjustment to the image , i used the grey point tool, not so easy when there is not alot of grey in the image but i wondered how it looked to you, i wont post it in the forum without you permission, i can post it in a pm if you would like something you might want to try is taking a grey card with you and shooting that on location so you have a grey point as reference to the images in that area when i first heard about using grey point for color correction i was surprised how well it works, the M50 gets it right alot of the time but there are times when its off either but its own accord or i've set the wrong temp, sometimes its flo lights etc also i'd like to hear what you think of the edit, it may be that you find it too under saturated or not punchy enough etc,
Well, thank you very kindly for your efforts. If you would, please send it to me via PM. Also, I have very poor results using a grey card. Thanks again, Tony.
I see that you are shooting out side of your comfort zone, Tony. Wildlife is much harder than flowers, light movement and other difficulties abound. I also see Caladina is helping, her images are quite excellent so she should be a valuable assistance, keep up the wildlife images, this is heading you towards much improved photography.
tried pm image but it says not available in pm's if you want to pm me your email i'll send it to you there btw are you on facebook at all? its really all the 'social media" i'm on, i'm 53 myself and cant be arsed with all that sort of thing, i only started facebook to post images to friends and family, its been quite a good scorce for classic car help and advice too if you are on there i could post the image in a message to you there.
cool something else to check on your camera is the see if the amber, green, magenta box has an adjustment on it from anything you may have corrected for and forgotten
