Than you for letting me know - I thought I may have been doing something wrong. Do you know anywhere else I can sell the camera where there might be serious buyers? Without pictures i'm not getting much interest, which I understand. FB, I just get time wasters and the camera stores want to give me so little so they make an even bigger profit? Yeah some of the big box camera stores like KEH have a good used trade in process but they need to buy it where they can flip for profit as you say. Buying on forums can work but there people are cautious to new users they haven't seen with a sale history. Your best bet may be ebay, you can compare used prices and list according to the market. My understanding is the gear is priced at the cost new to you?. The R5 and that lens are now only 5k pounds at wex new with a warranty.
I will give them a go and see what they offer. Out of those you mentioned WEX is the only one I am familiar with. Jessops gave the best price offer (for the lens anyway) which should in theory be the part that hold the value over the body. I am open to offers, just as my profiles shows, this really is my first sell. I want to sell it quick as I keep changing my mind but in reality it's just a lovely desk ornament, but I do not want to give it away. I will also give Ebay a try. Thank you again for your advice
Yeah I included Wex as i knew it was a big name in the UK, KEH is US based but has a big used section. EBay will give you a great idea of what they are going for used, like new. You can toggle a check box that shows recently sold/completed auctions. It also is probably you best bet for a sale at a good price to you. I am guessing ball park here if the camera body is going new for 4000, the box store may offer 3000? And the going rate is 3500 for like new? I did not research the prices too far but just a simple ball park based on 25 years of buy new and used cameras.
Also I apologize on the lens, i misread that as the 24-105 as i was thinking Kit lens. Its a bit odd converting between UK and US, the pound is less than the dollar, but the gear is pricier there. And a misread on which lens you had ... 1800 would be overkill on the lens i was thinking new (24-105 is like 1300), but seems like a very fair price on the 24-70 rf. I think you should try to sell in UK for the best price, as you can fetch higher prices there its seems. I can get a new R5 for 3700, which is what £3000? So maybe you have an availability issue there and the Camera is worth close to £4000 idk??
you could also try mpb.com they are a used gear buyer and seller in the uk, i been using them for a few years, very good and they will send a courier to pick up the grear
