Great colour on this flower Tony. Not too many blue flowers around compared to other colours. I'm interested to know why you set Shutter Priority mode - got me intrigued. Also, how are you getting the black background? It's a great way to make the vibrantly coloured flower take centre stage and really pop :)

    Greetings Greg,
I have tried using Aperture Priority, however it appears to be inconsistent. With Shutter priority I have discovered the I.Q., to be better and
more consistent. I also discovered that I can confidently use my Canon Speedlight with Shutter Priority, whereas with Aperture Priority I often times end up with nightmares for images.
Let's see. Regarding the blacked out background, on FastStonesimageviewer, there is a slider feature named "Shadows." That and mixed
a bit with Contrast is how I achieve that affect.

Thank you very much for your review and kind words there, Sir Isac. :)
    Cheers,
    Tony

I haven't used AP since the 90's! No control over the shutter speed doesn't appeal to me one bit. I only use manual - so much more control. The only time I'm off manual is Tv (Shutter Priority) for fast action shots like sports or birds in flight, where I need to get 1/2000th plus. With a speedlight, you will only get 1/250th shutter speed which is a bit limiting - but with your flower shots should be fine. Because modern sensors can handle high ISO easily, for flowers I would recommend:
Manual | f:5.6 - f:8 | 1/500th | Spot or Evaluative metering | spot or grouped focusing | Auto ISO. It's a start and you can adjust settings after looking at the image on the LCD and histogram.
