Cheers Craig. Sounds like you need to go for a bit of a drive to get away from the city lights.

Thanks Kevin. Sounds like the weather we tend to get.

Just give the old girl a kick, and you'll be fine.

I managed to get out and collected some more data a couple of weeks ago, and had a friend have a go at processing the data.

    GsDD_spin5.jpg

This was taken using an EQ6r pro, guided, and processed in PI. The camera was an RP, and the lens was a Sigma 135mm f1.8 Art @ f4. 15 exposures at 3 minutes and 30 seconds, plus bias frames.

Well, I'm finally getting out to travel soon and will be in darkest Nebraska. I've been practicing with my camera tethered to my Surface Pro using EOS Utility and hope to take some dark sky shots of the stars. Not quite in the league of you guys but have to start somewhere.
Hopefully by mid June I'll have some photos to upload.

Good luck, and I am looking forward to seeing your results. Remember to have fun, and enjoy yourself.

Yell out if you need or want any pointers.

Home now and as far as astro photography was concerned a complete disaster!
Dark sky territory in Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma was permanently hazy at best, low cloud worse ... that was in between evening thunder storms.
During our 2300mile drive there was not one clear sky ... so stars and photo opportunities nil.

The rest of the time was fantastic and clearly the best holiday we've had :)
    Oh well, next time then!

It is frustrating when you go somewhere with a particular subject in mind and things do not work out as planned.

    Another.

    M8 and M20.

    M8 and M20.jpg

Shot with a Pentax 600mm 645 lens and a Canon RP. Data acquired by myself, and processed by a friend. The mount used was a EQ6r pro.

I always enjoy your night images, Gary, I use the Mamiya 645 medium format lenses on my Canon 1D, 200mm with a 2X extender is all the reach I have in this setup. I like the results I get from this setup.

    Cheers Craig.

The biggest problem is getting clear nights that coincide with a weekend.

And another attempt of the LMC. This time a Pentax 300mm f4 645 A star was used with my RP. Mount used was an EQ6r Pro, 20 180 second subs and bias frames. Processed by a good friend.

A bit of a work in progress. Again, the data was collected by myself, and processed by a friend.
