    Hello all,

I am starting to regret purchasing the 470 ex ai. Its artifical intelligence is anything but intelligent, and now the swivel head is constantly messing with my diffuser. Is there a way to lock the swivel head so it isnt constantly rolling around while Im carrying the camera? Or do I need to stick with taping it in place like I am now? Really unimpressed. Seems like a step backward.

Did you read the the user manual much, the idea is not to have AI be the decision maker. You tell the flash the angle, and as you move the camera it re positions itself automatically.

That said....https://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/3/0300029903/01/470ex-ai-im-en.pdf Page 61 tells you the custom function to put the flash in manual mode so you can position manually like you would any other EX flash. I hope to god you haven't been burning out the motor trying to force the thing to move while in auto modes.
