Hi folks. I’m hardly a beginner with this kit but I’ve come across something I either haven’t done before or I’ve forgotten. I’m pretty sure I’ve set my 5D and 1DX to ignore input from the AF point controls. Very possible I’m imagining this and they’re not with me at the moment to check. However does anyone know if this is possible with the R3/? I just want the AF pointer/cursor to be set in the middle of the screen (view finder and screen) and locked in place, so the joysticks don’t move the point around. I’ve been through the manual a couple of times now and trawled the menu several without any luck, so I may be imagining the whole thing! Thanks folks.
I assume you want single point focus, pages 454-460 look to cover the system they implemented. Like my DSLRs looks like you press the focus button and spin the dial to change the active point. I assume this works in 1 point auto focus. I also assume you need to turn of tracking and subject detection so that it stays in the middle once you dial that in. ... but i don't have a R3 to test all this.
