Can I used an R5 with the EF S 10-22 lens. I am aware I get a cropped image but can anyone tell me what sort of size file I will get. I have also been told that I will get a round image rather than square.

There is no way you will get a round image as the sensor records a rectangle, however, the file if not cropped automatically with have extreeme vignetting from the inside of the lens barrell showing as that efs lens is not meant for full fram and will not cover the sensor with an image. I assume this is what you mean by "circular image.
    Something like this....

Now your file... if auto-cropped on r5 it appears it will be roughly 17mp. Spec supplied by canon: https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/s/article/ART178111
