If you're referring to Robots on the site, they are usually search engine crawlers like Google, Bing, etc. They are automated processes that look at websites to see what content is on it for search engines.
What happened to the days when family snaps was done with 35mm 126 film in plastic point and shoot cameras, you had to wait till the film was developed and the anticipation of opening the packet of freshly developed photos to see how they turned out. The photos were then secured in a photo album and in 20 or so years later our grand children could see what we used to look like. I think technology has taken us a huge step backwards or am I getting old. (a horrid thought)
I think the main plus of the old film technology is that the images were actually printed. That is happening much less nowadays and I am as guilty as the next person. But I have no desire to abandon all the advantages of digital technology as I think it has taken us huge steps forward. However, I respect your views, Craig. It would be a very boring place if we all had the same views.
I am in the same boat and use digital files other wise I would not be on this forum but to print digital photos from my printer at home is very expensive, especially larger prints, the cost of ink is too much and you get bugger all in the cartridges.
I think the sweet spot is proofing at home and or making smaller prints, ordering out the large ones from online printers. I use the PIXMA Pro 100 for that, and I have also have a cheap canon photo printer/scanner combo I print all my snapshots for the album or fridge from, it even lets me print straight from the "gasp" iPhone.
I also have the Pixma Pro 100. The inks that it comes with are pretty pricey to replace, but I am using http://precisioncolors.com/PC42.html which cuts the costs down significantly and the quality is just as good. The initial investment for the replacement inks was around $100 but that included a $50 chip resetter, which you only need to buy once.
Yes, I agree with you, Craig. Larger prints (I can only print to A4 and that is enough for me) can be expensive when done at home but it is just so convenient. I have an Epson printer and always use genuine Epson paper but I save money on ink by using generic carts. I get my ink supplies from Ink Station https://www.inkstation.com.au/? Their prices are good and their service is good too.
No need to "gasp" for us older generation, technology has advanced past our way of doing things and the i phone is the digital way of doing things.
