Genuine Canon battery cover door for 50d?

    Equipment:
    Nothing at the moment but want to get started in the DSLR world. Used to have a Nikon F series back in the day of film cameras.
    Any suggestions of where I can find a genuine Canon battery cover door for the 50D? So far all I have seen are just generic type ones.

    60D,350D 1dmark3, T70, AV1, lenses ranging from 28mm to 600 mm, canonet Junior, Canonet QL 25, Mamiya C3 and 3 lens sets,Mamiya 645 pro TL and 3 lenses.Mamiya universal press camera and 4 lenses, Mamiya RB67 Pro S and 5 lenses, Pentax MG and various lenses, Toyoview 4 * 5 inch large format camera,Calimat C1 8*10 inch ultra large format camera.
    Since they are no longer in production , you need a parts camera. so it off to EBAY

    I tried to find just that one part on ebay but all I could find was stuff made in China. Now the next thing I need to do is decide If I want to take a chance on replacing or at least cleaning the focusing screen myself. My OCD kicks in.with all the dust particles I see when focusing with the viewfinder which is what I like to do.

    I think the screen is removable on your 50D. Have a look on youtube, and someone will show how to do it. It should be pretty easy to do. Just be careful not to mark the screen when you are removing it, and don't use anything to harsh to clean it with. I would just use a soft brush once I have got the screen out.

    If you can control your OCD, there really is no need to clean your focusing screen because any dust there won't affect the image. Dust on the sensor is a different matter. That dust really needs to be cleaned off and you can do that yourself too. I have been doing it for years.

    Thank you Ray. In bright sunlight I don't see the dust but the rest of the time I do. You are right though that the images never show it. I am tempted to replace the standard matte screen with a split screen where you match the two halves in the middle to get the right focus in manual mode. I love looking through the view finder since it was what I was used to doing in the 1970s and 1980s

    I have a 50D and a 10D and the 10D is similar and would fit with a bit of filing , my suggestion is would a 40D or maybe a 30D fit as these are older cameras, closer to your year of production, maybe more available as a parts camera to do the job.

    Canon EOS R, 5DIV, 5DSR, 12-24 f4.5-5.6, 16-35 f/4 IS L, RF 24-105, 70-200 f/2.8 II, 100-400 II, , 20 f/1.4, 50 f/1.4, 85 f/1.2, 105 f1.4, 135 f/1.8, 300 f/2.8 II
    I changed the screen on my old 50D it was not very hard, I had purchased replacement screens from Canon Parts and they were very inexpensive, I think that I had to purchase like a pack of ten because I think that they were more geared to dealing with repair centers and camera stores.
