Had an unusual visitor today outside my bedroom window. Never seen this bird earlier around these parts. First thought this was the familiar wood Dove, roughly the same size with similar color patterns. The killer looks made it immediately obvious that this is a raptor, feeds on smaller birds. This is a small size migratory raptor whose habitat spans Europe, Africa and Asia.
Thanks porkphoto. I thought this was a Cooper's hawk but someone corrected this as Eurasian Sparrowhawk.
A wonderful series of shots, Sundar. I would not have known what it was except that it is obviously a raptor. Enjoyable viewing.
We have one which visits our bird feeder quite regularly - it usually goes away empty-taloned, but occasionally it gets its lunch!
