Let discuss the world of the automatic with different P&S cameras. Currently have used: Canon AF35M Canon Sure Shot Multi Tele (Half Frame/Full Frame)
I have used my wife's Canon Prima AF-8 bought new (around 2001) and is still kicking. The camera design is superb! It has only 4 apertures and 4 shutter speeds (considering this, I was amazed that there are good exposed pictures - the film was mostly Kodak Gold 200). Any exposure is automatically calculated using the ISO film value and a combination of these. For when the image is underexposed, a flash is fired.
I got Rollei 35B, compact range.... err, view finder camera, which has to be guestimates for focusing. The lens is quite sharp so you'll need to use more narrow apperture (like f/5.6 or f/8) Got the story on Steller here: https://steller.co/s/6RWTwZHkKFR
Vivitar Ultra Wide and Slim (22mm f11 lens) fixed focus fixed aputure fixed shutter speed Yashica T2 (35mm f3.5 Carl Zeiss tessar lens) auto exposure auto focus Canon Sureshot A1 (32mm f3.5 lens) auto exposure auto focus and waterproof I have quite a large collection of point and shoots but only listed the ones i actually use.
The ones I listed are the Canon only brands that I use. I mostly use: Olympus Stylus Minolta Freedom Escort
The only one I've used much is the Pentax PC35AF. It has autofocus and autoexposure. It has a flash for underexposure, but no sense of overexposure, in my experience.
