Hi, i have had the m50 for a month now and really enjoying it, are there any X2 etc teleconverters for m mount to m mount so i can use those with the kit lenses.
I do already have ef converter for my ef mounted stuff and a ef X2, the reason i want a X2 for m-m is so i can use that when i'm out and about in light weight mode.

    thanks
    Laura

    A little Canon stuff
As far as I know, there are none for the m mount.

Nope, you will have to go to the standard Ef mount and adapt it if your looking for length. Canon only made 8 lenses in M mount, most of which were in the first few years after introduction of the line in 2012. You'll see them focusing support on the newer RF mirror-less mount lineup. No TC there yet either but its still very new.

Yep as others have said, however I was pleasantly surprised to see that I can use the Extender 2x III with the EF 100-400 II lens and still get autofocus at the 400mm end. . .

Not too long ago, I asked Kenko if they were considering making EF-M teleconverters since they successfully made two for EF-S lenses. Kenko, as well as Sigma, have no interest in making anything [new] for the EOS-M system.

I even asked Viltrox as they have both recent EF-M lenses and EF teleconverters. No from them as well.

Aside from a seemingly endless barrage of repetitive and duplicative budget primes, I don't think we can expect anything new for the EOS-M system ever again.

Your pretty much one point, the m series was was abandoned almost right way and pivoted to the RF mount.

    Welcome to the forums Paul!!

I'm actually not far away on the opposite side of the state.

since i posted this and obviously when i first had the camera i had managed to make an ef-m to ef-m x2 teleconverter
the way i went about it was to take the inside x2 element out of an M42 mount x2 converter and place that inside the ef-m extension tube.

now it was far from the perfect solution and being an older optical element not spankingly clear like the x2mkIII etc but it worked, it gave a x2 image which was very useable, adjustment was trial and error on pushing the x2 element down the tube a bit, i was going to make a slider for it to perfect it but as far as i went with it was as a proof it would work

one of the main reason given to it not being made officially was the light drop on the then mostly slower kit zooms like the 55-200mm and 18-150mm which is a fair point, if you had it on one of the now faster ef-m primes the image (with a properly built one) would be very good, but considering the light drop and the fact the two kit lenses out focalize any of the faster ef-m primes its hardly worth it, maybe if you only were working with say a 32mm or 56mm the doubling of those two ƒ1.4 lenses might be worth carrying around.

it would have been nice for one of the third party or indeed canon to produce such an item but with its place in the entry level market and limit lens range it wasn't something that was on the cards then and certainly not now

best case scenario for those like me who plan on using the M50 for some time to come with its efm lenses as well as its adaptability to ef ef-s etc would be for someone who can make a few and sell them as a to order item.

as for can a x2 extender be made and work with M50, yes and with my experiments with the ef-m (DORR) extension tubes, well within the body size of the efm size

(no i cant remember which M42 unit i used, most will be the same size and the elements are in thier own thin shell which fits in the electronic extension tubes so full control of the lens works still
