I have a Canon 700D and a Minolta 55mmx1.7 macro lens . Can I reverse fit this for macro and if so what fittings would I need. Thanks
A reversing ring with whatever filter thread that the lens has on one end, and an EF on the other.While this is a basic entry into macro photography, if you do like it, and want more control - (i.e. reversing the lens means the only reasonable way to focus is physically moving closer or further to your subject) then there are a number of different options, insects for example I'd always lean towards the longer focal length lenses as it gives you more distance between you and the subject, whilst giving up to life size reproduction on the sensor. I have see this done on You Tube, I would suggest that you look at your lens and see what size the filter thread is. Purchase a EOS to what ever size it is. This will leave you with a female to female threaded holes. So invest in a male/ male thread adapter ring, the size of you lens thread. This will allow you to fit your lens to the camera backwards, then it would be a matter of playing around with it. You did not state what the lens mount was. If it is a EOS to M42, then again, you will need a M42 to what ever your lens filter thread size is, Male to Male adapter Ring. Lastly have a look a You Tube. Personally I would invest in some macro rings or macro extension tubes it is less confusing and easier to set up than reversal of the lens, you already have a macro lens this will add to the macro capability of the lens, get them cheap off of Ebay. Is this the 70's MC mount lens? I am not aware of a 55 1.7 Macro. So you can try a MC to EF adapter and play with that as others mentioned. But there are inexpensive macro lenses for the EF mount which would work better if your trying to get 1:1 macro.
