Hi, I have a canon rebel EOS Rebel T5. I bought a nifty 50 lens.. which I have shot single portraits with. If I’m doing a family portrait of 3 people is this lens sufficient enough to work with? I know I don’t have a full frame camera. Really looking for advice. Thank you. Also what distance do i shoot at?
I am still relatively new to photography, but have the nifty 50 for my T6. I took pictures of my sister's family (2 parents, 3 kids) with it. I moved a ways back (it was an outdoor shot) and the picture came out great. From my own experience, distance the camera so that you are able to frame the shot you want.
Right, you can definitely always crop/frame an image using your feet if need be. Sometimes that is easier than other times. I think outdoors that will not be a problem. Indoors you may be wishing you had a 24 or 35mm for a group.
Is it a 50mm crop-sensor lens, or is it a 50mm Full Frame lens? The lense won't "zoom" differently if either; however, the crop on your available sensor space will be diffrent. PS - the lens will be fine reagrdless - move the camera back or forward to frame your subjects properly, and done.
Chris, the 50 mm lens is one of my favorite lenses and will do fine, if you want to zoom in or out to frame your shot, just use your feet, the nifty fifty is excellent in low light or heavy shade.
