Hi All - I'm new to the forum and I'm looking for some advice on shooting sporting events on my Rebel T6. I am currently using my kit lens (ES-S 18-55mm F/3.5-5.6). I have made a few attempts and I have started to notice that my subject is often out of focus while the background is crisp. I typically shoot in aperture priority mode, while keeping an eye on my shutter speed.
Is this an issue with the lens I'm using? Or simply a user error on my part?

How fast is the shutter, it needs to be able to freeze action? That said what focus modes are you using AI servo tracks moving objects.
Do you see where the focus point is locking onto?

Hello - I completely overlooked the Al Servo setting! I was set on One Shot. Thank you so much for your input!
