Sorry if this is covered elsewhere, but I am unable to play (or do anything else with) Canon R5 8k video on my MacBookPro, and I understand that almost no current computers can handle it. The question is; how is the function/feature supposed to be used?
Do you mean RAW 8K files - then you will need the Canon Raw Plugin for Final Cut. These files open easily in Premiere Pro but I have found performance even on a Mac M1 to be lacking.
Yes, and thanks for making me one of your first day's posts! The 8K RAWs open OK but will not play, other than a uselessly-stuttering rate of about 1 frame in 100 or so, sometimes with sound, or not. I will try the options you suggest, but, of course, any sharing of 8K stuff relies on others having capable gear too. While I understand it's aimed at professionals, it seems that even high-end computers can't really handle it. I was particularly looking to use 8K clips from which to extract HD stills (as the Canon blurb suggests), but that would seem to be a way off yet. Thanks again.
