    Hello,
About 2 years ago I bought a M5. Installed Gateway and I could pair with Canon Utility and could see previews on my iMac (at that time it was an C2D now I have an i5), use remote shooting etc.
Now I would like to use this again, but there's no way the M5 showing up in the pairing screen of Utility.
I've tried different networks, different computers (iMac Monterey, MacbookPro Mojave, old HP W10) no result.
M5 connects fine to network (I can see it when I look in my router).
Tried another SD, it's not locked. Camera has latest firmware and computers and Canon apps all latest updates.
Connecting with my iPhone: no problem.
I installed Downloader for image.com, but you have to connect by pressing wifi button and choose cloud on camera and after that you have to click on the computer download latest images, every time you make a picture. That's not really useful.
Also it downloads both RAW and JPG so it takes a while, but I only need jpg for a preview on my monitor.
I could buy a cable, but I don't like that and I know it once worked (unless I'm completely confused with my old 40D but I think that one could only connect by cable).
Anyone has a working solution for connecting without a cable just to see a preview on a PC or Mac.

I also read Downloader would automatically download images, but it only works when I click at the icon and select check for new images.

Can I assume you have a copy of Eos Utility 3.xx which applies to the OS version your on? EOS 2.xx is kept up as well but applies to separate set of cameras, mainly older, you need the right one for the right camera.

Now the big issue. If you use the app in camera to do some of those options you connect to the router, but that does link to computer. To use the utility and transfer files this is normally don on canon cameras by the camera becoming its own wifi hotspot, and the laptop connecting to the wifi it broadcasts, then the utility will transfer files, the utility can be setup to do this automatically.

Thanks Johnny. It's completely ridiculous but it's not possible with the M5. So you put all your saved money into a product which has WiFi, Canon advertises as if it would work and they just let you down. This happening in 2022!? Unbelievable. Even more crazy is the fact that way older camera's work fine with remote shooting.

If anyone knows a solution for the M5 (even with an usb cable) to show live view on a Mac without very expensive programs (CpatureOne etc.) or even better, show your last taken picture, I would love to hear it.

It probably does work, the first reply indicated they are using the utility. 9 our of 10 people frustrated with the utility are failing to establish a connection to the cameras wifi connection using the laptop before trying to get the utility. The utility will not connect if your computer is still on your home wifi. This has been the way it has worked with the canon wireless transfer for some time, unless the M5 is doing something very different from the power shots and DSLRs I have used.
    - I'm not sure i trust sending the files through a canon server or your phone as a intermediary, I have stuck with card readers since 2005, they work every time and are so much quicker than messing with what should be smart technology.
