    Good morning one and all.

I've just treated my tripod to the Benro gd3wh geared head. The intension is to slow me down and to stop me rushing shots due to manual dexterity in my hands and fingers. What I would like from you is advice on sturdy and trusted L brackets to make switching between landscape and portrait that much easier for me.

I have not been able to source a custom made bracket, given the age of my camera. Amazon has plenty to universal offerings, many with 4* plus ratings, but upon reading some of the reviews questions are raised as to their quality and ability to safely contain a DSLR with lens. I appreciate by todays standards my camera is older and less technically advanced than todays current best, but I would be devastated if a bracket I purchased were to fail and my camera and lens were to crash to the floor.

Advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There are many brands making l brackets in the arca swiss mount, and I am sure several really good ones have entered the space in recent years that I have not read up on. Really Right Stuff and Kirk both are long trusted names and make ones specific to camera manufacture bodies. That said.... a snug fit bolted down is all you need.

Thank you for the reply johnsey.

I have checked out both the sites you recommended and didn't find anything suitable. I guess I'm just going to have to go with one of the universal options and pick what I think is the best quality based on the number of positive feedback posts. Once I have made a choice I will pop a photograph of the new head, L bracket and camera with tripod.

    Thanks for your advice.

Looks like you may need to shop eBay for the item since they don’t make new ones anymore.

Welcome, Ian, Most of these are pretty solid, these things happen due to the person using does not make sure all the fittings are securely tightened. I use a lot of aftermarket fitting and gear and never had an issue. Alway take time to check and you will avoid problems.

All my research thus far kept taking me to sites with the brackets which ended up being out of stock or discontinued. I wasn't really inspired by those I saw on Ebay, so decided on one from Amazon (probably one of the same models I rejected from Ebay).

Thank you for the welcome. Well that has inspired me with a little more confidence having ordered a bracket from Amazon. I opted for a model with the highest amount of positive user reviews. Now I just have to wait to see just how well manufactured the bracket it, as well as how well it fits fits and performs.

Again, thank you for the replies gentlemen.
