I've been trying to recharge my battery thru my PC. I've also been advised to use an adaptor............I thought I could just plug it into my computer. Is the issue I don't have enough thru the PC?

To clarify, did you find some way to connect the battery charger to the computer or did you just connect the camera to the computer via USB?

Cameras use USB for data transfer, they do not pass power back into the camera battery. You should be using the battery cage, even if you could charge through computer port it would likely take 5 times longer than plugging into the wall which is actually a very quick way to charge it.

I need an adapter, correct? The one Canon recommends is too expensive. Maybe you can recommend a cheaper one. Thanks.

Still do not think we are on the exact same page here.

Charging battery can NOT be done inside camera, USB connectivity is data ONLY.

You should have this with your camera in the box... It is the way to charge the battery.

You pair this together and you can power the camera using AC Plug in INSTEAD of battery power.

If your only looking to charge the battery you need to pop it out of the camera, usually most of us purchase a few batteries so we can keep photographing when one dies and while we charge another one. If your in a studio setup. You never mentioned why you wold like to charge while connected to the laptop so I'm a bit confused on what the value would be. If your doing video you need to get the DC coupler and a power cord to omit the battery altogether if you are worried about using up the battery during a web streaming situation.

You can try a off brand from China/Taiwan, just make sure it is made to slide into your battery compartment and replace the LP-E6NHbattery, just be careful and read reviews before you buy as they skimp on quality transistors and I would rather not save 100 bucks on the cords just so I end up frying my $1400 camera.

The plug in unit is what I need. From what I've read, trying to charge the battery thru the PC would'nt work........not powerful enough. I was under the wrong impression when I bought the camera. This is my first digital camera............my last one was a Canon F-1, LOL. I'm like a Dinosaur. I'm slowly starting to understand all of this. Thanks for all of your help. I'll continue using the Forum as needed. Thanks again.
