Hi everyone. I use the 90D with an assortment of lenses for landscape photography. I am looking to upgrade to a full frame camera R5 or R6. I have two questions. 1. Which FF camera is the best for my needs. 2. Will my existing lens work ok with either of them. Lens- Canon EF 70-200 f4 Canon EF-S 18-135 f3.5-5.6 Sigma 18-35 f1.8 Tokina. 11-16 f2.8 Thanks
EF-S mount will not, , it is smaller than full frame so if you could adapt it it would have vignetting around the image. Otherwise you can user an adapter for your EF lenses on the RF mount.
I began with R6 Mk 1 two years ago for imaging aircraft in flight, occasionally at considerable distance. Became disillusioned with resolution and upgraded to R5. Could not be happier, particularly with cropping to size and posting on Instagram. Unfortunately, not qualified to answer lens compatibility questions!!
with landscape (which i don't do) i would think the higher mp is going to be the one to go for, baring in mind the pixel density you have been use to on the crop 32mp camera, i use the M50 for wildlife and some planetry images so pixel density is a + for me if i were to go for the R6 it would be the mkII i'd also do some research on the higher resolving lenses canon do or don't offer on the RF system, i know of a few on my system and they were very good for distance image quality depending on how you do your landscape photography, ie single frame or stacked pano etc the R5 could lead to some very high def images but as mentioned i havent done any landscape imagery in any serious capacity to which i should really, question i have for you as a bit of interest in landscape photography, whats the main reason for choosing full frame over crop sensor? my thought would have been the full frame has better light but with landscape its mostly a tripod affair and the ability to eliminate lower shutter speed shake would shorten the advantage of the full frame camera, this of coarse is based on only landscape and very little knowledge of that too.
Thanks everyone for your great replies. I am now considering keeping my 90D. I have tried a full frame R6 belonging to a friend of mine and I like the heavier weight and more solid feel of the 90D better.
Thanks for reply. I was going to buy the R5, until I checked an exchange rate site. I saw it was over £1000 more expensive in UK against the US.
