I finally was able to get good shots of my all-time favorite animal and I only had to drive a few hours to do it. A few years back I drove up to Canada to get shots and the weekend I went there it was -13F with wind chills of -25F, even the locals were asking what I was doing up there. That trip I was able to find a owl just sitting on some frozen part of Lake Ontario and got some shots, nothing great. So a couple days ago I took a trip over to Island Beach State Park in New Jersey. It took me about forty-five minutes to find the owl and then I stayed and followed it for about four hours. It was a cloudy day and very windy but I was able to get some shots I was happy with. I hope I sized them down to be able to post them here. All shot with the 5dsr and 600mm F4 IS II with the 1.4TC III with +1 stop exposure compensation.
I had a 20x30 printed up of the top left image and it came out great. After the holidays I'm going to get it framed up professionally and it's going on my wall.
Those images are superb. The trip was well worth it and I applaud your dedication staying out there that long.
