    Hi,
I'm new to the Forum though I've read a few of the suggestions for the problem I have. My 5D Mk3 is stuck on F/ 00 I've tried all suggestions I could find, eg cleaning pins & points and connecting a different lens all to no avail. I have 2x 5D Mk3's plus a 5D Mk4 and other models, all lenses are L Lenses and my equipment is kept clean and dry.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated , if the repair is going to be too expensive I may as well scrap it .
    Thanks in advance

Thats a communication error, my guess is the ring on the camera is is the culprit, if you cleaned to com points on the camera then the brassing may be enough to cause issues. It could be something else but usually this points to lens or camera not talking to the other, since all lenses are showing the issue it must be the camera. You could send to canon but i suspect the repair will be at least half the cost of the camera used as labor is probably 80 bucks an hour.

Thank you for the ifo', yes I was afraid it would be an expensive fix, I'm awaiting a quote from a repairer now. It's a shame as it's been a great camera and in good condition still, thanks again for the reply

For what its worth, depending on the quote, you could definitely step up to a mark 4 or down to a mark 2.

I have both and both are great, i say to consider those because the mark 3 was a very modest step above the mark 2, and well those first few years had many people find some weird issues, the biggest one I can think of that many people sent back to canon that comes to my mind was the inconsistent auto-focus. So on the used market i wold just opt for the mk2 which is probably a slight bit cheaper and basically the same camera if not a less of a risk for random issues from a used camera. The mark 4 is now a fraction of its brand new price and well worth 900-1000 price tag for what was a 3-4k $ camera a few years back. In either case you cant go wrong.

I have a Mk4 and a 7D Mk2 for sport, I 've had 2 Mk3's for quite a few years and the one with the problem is in very good condition a shame to throw it, but as mentioned I'll wait for the quote, I'll post again on the cost so others that have similar issues can see .
