    Hi there.
I'm new to this community and getting back into photography after a 16 year break. The last cameras I purchased were a 1DS II and a 5D II. Now trying to decide which Canon R to go for (5, 6 or 7) but wanted to know how compatible my old EF L lenses (50mm 1.2, 100-400 series 1, 24-105mm IS etc) are with the Rs. I know they will 'work' but what functionality do I lose?
    Many thanks in advance.

I have also been thinking about getting one the Canon R cameras for some time and according to my research you shouldn't lose any functionality apart from what I consider could be a major problem.

Canon recognise that when using some EF lenses on the Canon R range of bodies that the lens IS may not work properly so suggest that you turn off the IS. Certain models in the R range have IBIS (in body image stabilisation) which could be a bonus but the problem is that if you have to turn off the lens IS then this also turns of the IBIS, so it is a case of using both systems together or none at all.
