So, I did have the bright idea of trying to take one image per month for the year, and at the end of the year I would show my effort. But 2022 was a 'trying' year to say the least. I had a look through my years effort, and I managed to put 12 images together. It's not one image per month, but here's 12 images. 1. Grass seed heads taken in the late evening sun. 2. It's a cat's life. We ended up with a stray cat being dumped at our place. I guess that she has settled in okay. 3. Getting out with my camera has not been that easy this year. But from home, we do get a few nice sunrises. 4. Winter time. 5. Another sunrise image. 6. And another sunrise image. 7. As getting out and about is not easy, I decided to buy a macro lens to try something a little different, and to keep me sane. 8. Fingers of light. 9. A foggy start to the day. 10. Orion nebula. This one is a Canon body, and Pentax lens combination. I had a friend process this for me. Four images blended and taken from our home. 11. A bit of an experiment. I would like to do a stitched Milkyway image this year. This is more of a test to see if the project is doable. 12. A bit of an odd one out image. This image was taken a few years ago before I owned any Canon gear. But the reason that I added it was that we got this image printed large and framed. in the year. It now hangs on our wall. Something we should do a little more with some of the images we take. If you have 12 images that you took and liked, how about posting them for us to see. I am pleased that you found one you like. I particularly like March, and September's effort. I am not sure if anyone else is going to add to this thread. But for 2023 I will put another 12 images to one side and post them this time next year. Gary
I will go out of my way to put aside a monthly image for this year, last year was a bit full on and I had not planed to do so.
i saw the challenge when it was put up last year but i didn't make any special effort to take an image for it, i waited till november before i went back through the year and did a shortlist of each month, some had a good selection with several possible ones i could have used and there were a couple of months i only have two days of general images to pick from.
I lost a lot of my earlier images when the external hard-drive they are on fluffy ducked it self, one of last years little forgetful moments.
Thanks, I primarily do birds but I wanted to add some other stuff as well. Last year I decided to put the effort in and try to build my skills. I am suing EOS RP for wildlife and probably not the best choice so I am hoping to upgrade both my camera and skills this year.
great set of images, i'm on the canon M50 myself, i got the M50 for its compact ability and for wildlife as its a crop camera, been using it for 3 years now, still love it, i mostly do wildlife but also do everything from 2mm macro 600mm+ telephoto, great capable little camera, i'm not a paid shooter its just a hobby so i only shoot jpeg, for sure i know the benefits of raw but for what i do i don't need it as yet, maybe if i print or send out work i would use it but jpeg is just dandy for me
My personal thoughts on a new camera is to always upgrade the lenses first unless the camera is showing faults, then again a new bit of kit is always nice.
The main reason I want to upgrade the body is the autofocus. After several thousand shot on the RP I have learned its capabilities and try to shoot within them. However this means a lot of missed opportunities. I feel like I hijacking thread so I will move on.
Cooldood, this is the sort of interacion needed on the forum, the qualities of a new camera in the area of a better autofocus, is a definate plus for its purchase.
which body are you thinking of coolblood, R7 seems to be the wildlife choice, i'm waiting to see what canon brings to the table with the next crop, i'd liked to have seen a bsi or stacked sensor in the R7 if i didn't already have a crop camera then i probably would have gone with the R7 but for me the M50 is still doing ok
I have my heart set on the R5. I know crop body gives me that "reach" but 2 main reasons I do not want APC Crop senser with a long zoom is kind of like looking through a straw and can be difficult to capture moving targets. With the extra MP I can still crop in post with decent resolution. With the full size I have more options other than birds Yes I know that was three LOL
with crop its not the reach, the focal stays the same just the view is tighter, where it gets its benefit is from more pixels on target if you think that a 24mp crop sensor is the equivalent of a 61mp fullframe camera for pixel density on the same target its quite a thing i guess you could always get a wider lens if the crop is too tight,
