Hey guys, I suspect that my lens is just faulty but I hate to just trash it without trying to bring it back! It's one of the earlier lenses (a 3.5-4.5), and I don't have that much in it but I use it more than anything else I have. I've cleaned the contacts on both the lens and the camera, and none of my other lenses have any issues with the camera body. I've cleaned other lens contacts in the past and it's worked. Not for this one! The contacts on the lens don't look like they're worn so much that they've worn out. The lens is so old Canon won't repair it. Am I better off just giving up, and looking for another one? Or is there anything else y'all would try? Thank you!
I think you did what you could, sort of being tech savy on the wiring inside. If it was me id sell it for $30 for parts on ebay since its worth 130 used in good shape, and look at it as a reason to upgrade. You have a very high end body, its time to save up and start putting some faster L glass in front of that sensor.
Hey, thanks for the confirmation that I pretty much have a lost cause here Right after I sent that post I thought about trying that lens on my C100. I put it on, and it works! Maybe just something a bit off about that particular lens along with this 5D MKIV body. Since I wouldn't get a ton for it for parts I'll just hang onto it for a spare for the C100. If it suddenly stops working on THAT body, then I'll sell it for parts And yeah, I hear you on upgrading to faster/better glass!
