Very nice pink indeed Tony. Well framed. I'm not familiar with pattern metering - is it something on the T5? We don't have the Rebel "T" range in Australia, it's called the 1200D, I don't know why though.
Thank you very much sir Isac. The T5 is also referred to as the 1200D in Europe. I do not have a clue why it is different in various regions throughout the world. Thnx again and Cheers Mate. TT
What is pattern metering mode? 'Multi-pattern metering' refers to a metering mode selectable on a camera which is designed to meter a scene accurately in challenging lighting situations. ... In this situation multi-pattern metering can 'sense' the difference in light between the subject and background and compensate for a balanced exposure. Hope this helps. Many thnx again. Tony
I saw that and also that it was something new that Nikon were introducing soon. It's going to be controlled by A.I. software. Pretty cool idea. I was puzzled as to why you had it in your exif details for the flower above. "Focal Length 194mm, Manual Exposure Mode, No Fill Flash With Pattern Metering."
Well, that is the way the EXIF Data revealed what type of metering system was used on the subject. I was surprised also, as I have never seen it worded that way before the Canon EOS Rebel t5. I have seen Matrix Metering, Evaluative Metering, etc., etc., fun stuff photography, eh"? Learn something new almost every day. Rgds, Tony
Thanks Tony. I haven't seen that program. It does make it confusing. The exif data is embedded in the image so you think the programmers would know how to display the extracted data. I use Faststone every day for viewing and quick edits and they show Canon Evaluative Mode and Nikon Matrix Mode as Multi-Segment. Go figure.
Yes, you are correct. As each model emerges, they come with many different titles for a lot of features, such as, "New and Improved." However, it is just a sales tactic to get us drawn in to spending more dough rey meee. I have had Olympus and Minolta gear also and I seem to recall Pattern Metering in Olympus, but not too certain regarding Minolta. Thnx a bunch, Sir Isac. tt
