SWMBO & I spent a day or two in Aberdeen recently while she attended a scientific conference. I had a wander round with the R10. The Exhibition Complex Aberdeen (TECA) - this building is very angular. TECA - 2 by John Liddle, on Flickr TECA - 1 by John Liddle, on Flickr Aberdeen is known as The Granite City and most of the buildings are, as you might expect, made of granite and therefore grey. I did find a bit of colour in a deserted shop dooorway. Aberdeen City - 2 by John Liddle, on Flickr Mercat Cross. Aberdeen City - 3 by John Liddle, on Flickr The wonderfully-named Correction Wynd. Its interestng to see other cities through the eyes of other photographers, I prefer the first image with the main eements beig various shapes.
Stunning images John. Lovely lighting and angles. The architecture is amazing. Your images have a subtle HDR feel which, when not over cooked (as these aren't) let us see the images more closely to how our own eyes would have captured the scene. I'm a fan, well done.
Craig & Isaac - thanks for your encouragement. These were produced using Aurora HDR which I find quite good. The guiding principle in its use however is that you should reduce the intensity of whatever effect you have chosen to below 50%, preferrably down to 30% or 40%. I find that this gives you the gains of HDR without the "bling", as one might describe it, that beguiles the unwary.
