I just purchased my first digital SLR (Canon 80d). I previously used a Canon G1x. I used to try and use Paint Shop. While it was inexpensive, I did not find it easy to use. I am thinking about buying ACDsee Pro 10. Does anyone use ir? If so, what are your thoughts? I like to do a lot of B+W prints. How does it work in that area? Any better programs for B+W?

There are completely free (and open source) but professional grade applications for Windows
    - RawTherapee
    - Darktable
    - GIMP
    - Krita
In RawTherapee, Krita and GIMP you can add film emulations.

If you are interested in film emulations, here is how you add them:
    - for GIMP, film emulations can be added via G'MIC plug-in.
    - for RawTherapee, here is an article.

I think Krita have them already included, not sure...

when its simple edits of jpg files i tend to use a phone or tablet and software like Perfectly Clear or Snapseed
anything else is gonna require practice and hours spend on YouTube video tutorials.

I highly recommend anyone with interest in photo editing/post processing learn GIMP, not because its free but the fact in runs on anything (Mac/Linux/Windows) and has much lower system requirements (a ten year old laptop can run it)

I use ACDSee Pro and if you're interested just download the software version for free to use for 30 days. You can determine how well you like it to organize your photos and do everything from simple fixes to more detailed work. Only thing it's missing from ultimate is the ability to work in layers and if you're okay with it, it's worth a try. It's pretty easy to learn how to use.
