This is my friend, Nina's Blue Tounge Lizard called Feral, she is 3 1/2 years old. She is called Feral because when you aproach her cage, she hisses at you but when you pick her up she becomes quiet and relaxed.
They are quiet and easy to handle. They need various shade, warm dry place to sleep. This one is kept in a 4foot by 3foot by 18 inch cage outside. They can be kept in doors in a glass cage but need UV lamps as with out the UV they develope a bone desease. By the time it is 7 years old it will double it's size. They are very common here in Tasmania where they are prey upon by various bird species. A permit is needed to keep them. The image is of her in the cage, which has a variety of areas, such as a large flat rock which she sunbakes on plus a hollow log and shaded areas when she wants to get out of the heat.
