    Hi Guys.

I tried finding out the shutter count on my 6Dii. It involved changing a driver on my camera (which I reluctantly did). It wasn't able to reveal my shutter count in the end!

The thing is, my camera's still working fine, but when I try to download photos from my camera to my computer, my camera no longer shows up in the file explorer. I can still get my shots from the camera to the computer using my card reader, so it's not an emergency, but it is annoying.

Has anybody got any idea what's gone on?

Hi, you say you changed a driver on your camera??? is that something in your camera's menu or was it a firmware update? or was it something you changed on your computer? Are you using Windows or MAC operating system? WiFi connection or USB?

If it was a setting that you changed on your camera I'd suggest doing a factory reset of your camera to return all setting to default which should make it work as it was before you changed something. This will also reset the time and date and erase any personal settings/custom profiles you may have created.

Firmware updates are harder to reverse I imagine.

If it's something computer related then we need a little more info but lets get answers to the above first.

    Cheers G.

    Thanks G!

This is an edit as I tried a few things and so my last post became out of date.

I have already done a factory reset on my camera and it didn't remedy the situation. I tried plugging my camera into my second computer and it showed up! So it's a computer problem, not a camera problem. I use windows 10. I wonder why it's not showing up in my quick access.

Ok, well a factory reset can be found within the cameras menu system, I don't have a 6Dii myself but it's not too hard to find.

Also I found this which may be of use to you with regards to your issue.

Let me know how you get on.

    Cheers G.
