    Hey everyone!
Which one would you guys choose, a scratchy Canon 85mm 1.8 or a good condition Rokinon 85mm 1.4?
    Thank you in advance!

What do you mean by scratchy?

What are you planning to shoot with a 85mm lens? What is the price difference between these lenses? And, can you return either lens if you are not happy with it?

It has small scratches on the glass. I would do portrait with it mostly. The price is basically the same (both of them around 85-90£).

I think that I would pass on that if it was me.

After a quick look around the 'net at second hand prices for these two quoted lenses I would be very suspicious of the Rokoinon whilst the Canon one you have shown isn't worth 85 pennies in my opinion.

For what its worth, the Rokinon if in great shape sounds like a deal at 85£, i found Rokinion to have good glass and be built well. My main question is does it have the focus confirm chip? I assume it does but am not familiar with their 85mm version, since this is a manual focus lens the chip is rather helpful. So if you can test it first you may have a nice grab.

That said Caladina mentioned an sigma which is a great value over the L version by canon, though I assume your not really looking to drop a grand on a 85mm though. For what its worth the Canon 85mm 1.8 is a great little lens and the price brand new is worth it IMHO, its a hard sell for me to buy used or spend 3-5 times more for the L at that price range. Its not much more than the manual focus Rokinon new.

the 85mm EX ƒ1.4 is the older one, going for around £350-£500 second hand, not sure if you confused that with the sigma Art version which is alot more expensive and a bit heavier too.

Yeah I assumed the 85mm 1.4 was the art one.

to add to this, i did try the sigma EX a few months ago it is a great lens but it didn't play well on my M50 as the firmware was just a bit too old on the lens, other EX lenses i have work very well on the M50,

i recently got the canon ef 85mm ƒ1.8 and on mpb they have so many due to them being old now you can pick up ones in excellent condition for peanuts, just look at the images on the site as they are of the actual lenses,

decent to good sharpness at ƒ1.8, at ƒ2.2 on its excellent sharpness, great lens for little money
