I'm experiencing a frustrating issue with my Canon 90D. After changing some settings in the Cf.N menu for auto-focusing during a high school wrestling match, my camera has become unusable in any manual modes. Here’s what happened:
    1. Problem Description:
      • After making changes in the Cf.N menu, my playback and menu buttons stopped responding.
      • I reflashed the firmware to 1.1.1 using EOS Utility, hoping to fix any software issues. The reflash was successful, but the problem persists.
      • The lock switch is not engaged, so that’s not the issue.
      • In auto modes, all the back buttons work fine, but I can't access the reset menus or use back buttons in manual modes.
    2. Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
      • Removed the SD card, lens, and battery; left it overnight.
      • Tried various combinations of steps using EOS Utility and button presses, but no luck.
      • When switching to manual modes, the splash screen appears briefly and then clears.
      • In manual modes (M, P, Tv, Av, B, C1, C2), the buttons do not respond, but I can still take photos without changing settings.
    3. Workaround Discovered:
      • Turn off the camera. Remove lens and SD card.
      • Switch to video mode and turn it back on.
      • Wait a few seconds, then switch back to photo mode.
      • The camera operates normally with all menu options accessible. However, switching modes causes the issue to return. Or if the device is powered off and back on.
I’ve reset all settings, including custom functions and wireless settings, but the problem remains. I feel like this might be a common issue that others have faced. I have no warranty since I purchased it refurbished through a third party.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem or have any suggestions for a permanent fix?

Thanks in advance for any help!
