This is a request to the forum owner and also to the canonforums.com members.

Please, move all the photos taken with other camera brands to the threads specifically created for that. Stop polluting the forum! There really is no honor left? If we want (and be sure we want) a place at the pentaxforums.com level, then we must fight to keep it clean.
So please mister moderator and also forum owner, take action! Or else there is no point in wasting our time on this ... aaa ... what forum you said is this?

Thanks for your suggestion! I'm going to discuss this with Adam to determine which route we will want to go with.

I do think there should be some sort of line drawn; I expect the posts/photo to have some sort of relation to Canon, be it the lens or body being discussed or used for a photo being posted. Also I fully endorse those who mix Canon and Pentax mounts for example posting here, but should be clearly labeled as such. I suppose there could be an "off topic" thread for random non canon related posts?

just wanted to throw my weight in here with Vasile Guta-Ciucur. i, too, want to see canon pics in a canon forum - a separate non-canon pics section would be helpful.

Adam and I have discussed this issue and we decided that we will only enforce that the photo has been taken with Canon cameras for our contests only. Photos posted on the Share your pictures forums can be posted with any camera. We have sections that are Canon camera specific for discussion and questions. For example, if you have a problem with your Pentax/Nikon camera and would like to get help with it, then it would be more appropriate to post to their respective sites.

BUT what about lens reviews? It is essential to use a Canon body. Would you reconsider?

What?!!!?? You mean you CAN'T tell that a photo was taken with "your brand" of camera like you can always identify your brand of beer or soda? :) :) :)

In the end, is all about honesty, integrity. you want to have a forum about a specific brand. Then your reviews must be for the cameras of that brand. There are differences between the sensors, the dimensions of the APS-C sensor of Canon are unique. I don't want to buy a lens tested on different sensors as there will obviously be differences. You can't do that! Or you can, because your system of values permits you. Then obviously, you lower the value of this forum. and also rise questions regarding the accuracy of the reviews on the Pentax forums...
"This is sad! Very sad only!" as Neytiri from the Avatar said (see it at 3:31).

In "Post Your Photos" how can you tell the camera brand by the picture?

We don't show EXIF for off-site photos, but there are plenty of browser plugins which will do this for you :)

I have been wondering how long it would take for some-one to bring this subject up.
As a person who owns and uses multiple cameras, multiple lenses, all by various brands and that includes digital and film and I mix them up regally with adapters, I can not see a issue here. In many of the discussions here, the majority of issues raised have been Canon related.
I don't have a issue with Canon only used in competition, this is a canon forum but we have not had too many of those of late, so again I can not see a issue here.
Now let us look at what a Canon camera is and that is a plastic box with electronics and wiring same for the lens with the Canon brand on it, and same for all the other brands.
Now how strict is the Canon only product going to be, ban after market lenses made for Canon, some how I don't think so.
So what if a few non Canon types enjoy our company, they are in good company.
The forum should be for people with a love of photography, a place the find out ways around problems and offering help where we can.
This is how communities are made and how this forum will survive in the future.
