Greetings, Just a few moments ago I purchased a very like new Canon EOS 7D Mark II and would appreciate any comments from those who have actual, hands on experience with one or more. Should be in my hot, little hands in about a week. Much Grass, Tony
Okay, thanks Gary. I understand the main difference between the two is that the 7D II has Flicker Control feature. Meaning if you were at a late night sporting event and the arena uses Mercury Vapor lighting, it causes flickering so fast that out eyes do not see it, but the camera does and adjusts the shutter accordingly. The auto-focus is supposed to be a bit faster and truer on the later model and perhaps a more solid build quality. So basically, how happy have you been with the 7D? Thank you. Tony
How happy have I have been with this camera? I really like it. It's fast and has a really tough feeling about it. I was hoping for a mark iii version, but I don't think that is going to happen. I don't think that you will be disappointed. Gary
You are correct, the 7D Mark ii was replaced with the Canon 5D series. Thanks for the encouraging words. Tony
There was a lot of people waiting for the 7Diii but it was all BS - instead they released the 90D. I have both 7D and 7Dii and they are both very capable units. Great sports cameras with fast burst rates. Good for all genres and exceptional for BIF. The 5D was first released mid 2005 and is full frame as opposed to the 7D (released 2009) which is APS-C. The 5D is a successful camera for Canon and they are now up to the Mk4 series. I'm very happy with my 7Dii and you won't be disappointed Tony. I may be able to share a few tips
Yeah I was going to say the 5d has been around longer than the 7d, and the 7d is an oddity in the naming scheme as it is a crop body with a single digit which was what they had used on the 5d and 1d series for full frame.
Your input is always greatly appreciated and I am constantly in anticipation for more. I may be incorrect, however it is my understanding that the Canon EOS 90D replaced the Canon EOS 80D. Once again, many thanks for your assistance. Cheers Mate. Tony
Greetings again, I want to share with you awesome folks exactly the gear I have purchased. I purchased online from a close, personal friend I have known for years, so I do have a great deal of trust and respect for this individual. Here is the deal: Canon 7D II. I tried to get the shutter count but failed, but it is very low as I only used the camera for particular purposes. All the original pieces with the camera (wire, charger for batteries, strap, instructions CD rom) plus two extra batteries (three total, all Canon), a Vello rigid screen protector (installed), two 7D dedicated Arca-Swiss plates (one just a bottom plate, the other an "L" bracket that I never used), and some miscellaneous extras (CD cards wallet, shutter release wires compatible with Vello or Bower shutter releases). Came with and includes Canon 18~135mm lens in excellent condition (very good lens, and a very convenient focal-length range). I checked on Amazon.com and the Canon EOS 7D Mark II with the Canon EOS 18~135mm IS is the USM version, not the STM version that I am getting and their price was approximately $1200.00 used and other than the lens, no other accessories. I also checked on ebay and this bundle (as they call it) is listing for approximately $2,500.00 and few bucks for shipping I believe. I purchased this whole deal for more than half off of what Amazon.com is selling just the body and lens for. I just wanted to share this with you folks to say that sometimes you can strike oil with just one swing of the pickaxe. Hope this helps somehow. Thanks for reading and stay safe and healthy. Cheers, Tony
Well you have to be pleased with that Tony. Just let us know what you think of the camera once you have a decent play with it. Gary
Good purchase Tony! I was lucky enough to get my 7Dii as a replacement for my original 7D and the body only price tag was AU$2,500! My original 7D was AU$1,700 back in '09. For some reason Canon seem to think that the shutter count on their DSLRs should be a well kept secret! You can easily get the count for your 7Dii by downloading and installing "Astro Photography Tool - APT". Install and run it. When it starts: 1. Reminder will show, Click No. 2. Check Lists will show, Click Cancel (or press Esc). 3. Connect your camera to a free USB 3 port (cable supplied with camera), turn it on and click on Connect. 4. You will hear a charming lady say "Camera Connected" then you will see your shutter count.
A great many thanks to you, Sir Isac. Your assistance has always proven to be invaluable. Cheers Mate, TT
Not yet. Thought I would wait for the 7Dii to arrive on Monday. Do you feel I should work with it now? tt
I'd wait till the new camera arrives Tony. I know you'll love the camera but it's probably a bit different than what you're used to. Enjoy it mate!
Thanks very much for your response. I do not know and cannot imagine what would be different about the 7D Mark II. I have the Canon EOS 80D and with the exception of a few minor issues, I like it very much. In fact I was wondering if the 80D is a better camera than the 7D Mark II since it does have the articulating LCD, more MPs and is later technology. However, I have noticed that the 7D Mark II sells used for quite a bit more money than the 80D. If the 7D Mark II doesn't work out for me, I am confident I will be able to get my initial investment back, possibly a little more. Thanks again, and I may go ahead and download APT soon as I may want to familiarize myself with it prior to receiving the 7D Mark II. Gratefully, Tony
The 2 cameras have their pros and cons and I found this interesting HERE. It all depends on what you want to do with your photography. I'm sure will enjoy the 7Dii. HAND!
Very informative, thank you very much. I see that each camera is best suited for a particular type of purpose, however I feel the 7D Mark II should be more that excellent for stills such as floral and macro photography. Adios. Tony
