    Hi Folks,

    My first day here,

I live in West Sussex England.

A lady in work gave me her dad’s old camera, a canon FX. It’s ok, a bit dusty, but nice.

But, yes there is always a but, the shutter sticks at any speed under 1000.

So it’s service I guess, but with whom, and how much might it cost?

I don’t want to bin it, it’s too nice for that (if it’s a non starter I’ll keep it as a paperweight), but I really fancy having a go 35mm film again.

    thanks for any advice

Hi Tonyh, welcome to the forum.
If you can find someone to do it, I would expect a CLA (clean, lubricate and adjust) to cost somewhat in excess of £150 here in the UK. There is a plethora of working 35mm cameras on the well-known auction site at much less than the cost of getting the FX serviced so perhaps that may be the better option if you just want to 'scratch the 35mm film' itch again.;)

    Hi

Thanks for the advice, well I guess it will be paperweight time, shame as apart from not working, it’s in lovely condition.

Ah well, more fish in the sea…

    many thanks
