Any Canon users here that can advise me on Canon software? Just jumping ship from Sony A7 III system to Canon EOS R6 MK2 system, but Canon's software seems to be complicated and it is not clear what does what and from trying, none of it is available for Mac OS Ventura anyway? I like the idea of being able to use Canon software on my laptop for tethering purposes and if Canon also do some software that allows client to see on a laptop, remotely, not with a cable, what I'm shooting that would be good too. Also, do Canon do software that allows me to edit, such as a Capture One or Lightroom type alternative and, again, can I get these for Mac running Ventura?
Digital Photo Professional is ok for doing some basic editing to raw files, it is not a replacement for light room. The EOS Utility is good for pairing camera to computer and transferring files as well as updating firmware. I don't use picture editor but you can deduce what it is by the title. Any software listed you find really puzzling out of the list?? https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/eos-r6-mark-ii says that they are available for Mac OS 13
johnsey, DPP is not available for Canon R6 MK2 on Mac at all so that's out of the question for me. EOS Utility is available, can you use that for tethering and capturing images to a laptop?
yes but you will still need an editor for it to open. https://waltersanford.wordpress.com/2021/03/05/tethered-shooting-using-canon-eos-utility/
not sure why DPP isn't available for the R6 mkII, if i remember you can contact canon and ask as there was an option for that for what its worth i use the M50 and DPP and the eos utilities, i just use the DPP as the first cull viewer, i like how that works, for editing i use photoshop elements 2021, i used to use photoshop 5 on my older mac but the new one doesnt support it, so i got the PSE as i just hobby shooter as for the eos utility i use that for tethering for live shooting on my mac book pro 2022 both with a cable and with wifi only when at home the downloads i mostly do wifi only when its just stills, if its a few vids then i use the cable to mac as its alot faster with the video file sizes,
I think this is an issue of some parts of the site not being labeled up to date. Digital Photo Professional 4.17.20 for macOS is listed as most recent version and compatible with the latest Mac OS as well as both R6 versions. DPP is simply a RAW Viewer and and modest editor, it should be up to date with their newest RAW versions and updated again in tandem with a new release raw version as they push out new generations of cameras.
Digital Photo Professional 4.17.20 for macOS definitely not available for R6 MK2 on Mac Ventura. Will have to stick with Capture One.
