A small section of one of the airlocks on my home-brew cider which is bubbling in the kitchen - complete with a bit of spider web! Note how the curved front face of the bubble has progressed well beyond the lowest point of the airlock tube, but has been held back from breaking through and releasing the pent-up CO2 from the brewing process by surface tension. The vertical extent of the image is 2". Produced for submission in another place. Curves by John Liddle, on Flickr
I can't answer for this year's effort as it is not yet ready (should be OK for Christmas). I am not an expert so the end result varies from year to year - sometimes it is absolutely delicious, sometimes not quite so good but still drinkable - but always decidedly alcoholic!
